    1. goshat was an exciting bit o'business word!i was variously moved to tears, enraged by foolish white people, enraptured by lyrical prose, and tenderly nursing the sympathetic throbbing of the quite massively barren womb i'd grown in response to all the not-without-my-daughter escandalo up in hurr.honestly the only thing missing was a chinchilla shifter—and by now i fully expect harper fox has one in store for me in the next installment.i enjoyed this immensely.__________previously:this book: ta [...]

    2. Review written March 27, 20164.4 Stars - Atmospheric mysterious as always. Touching and creepy good.Book #5Easter read worthy. Another solid good Harper Fox romance. ********************************************* Cornwall, south England, UKThe Tyack & Frayne series is so far six shorter (75-150 pages) novella episodes in the M/M mystery genre with a new mysterious "case" in every part. In essence, however much focus on the development of the romance between these men. Characters, my reviews: [...]

    3. I really enjoy this series. Gideon and Lee are wonderful characters, great together, human and fallible, and yet honest and palpably in love. In this instalment, they see the birth of Lee's sister's child, whom they have promised to adopt and raise. But things don't work out as smoothly as planned. And the savage murder of a local farmer, in the middle of the most stressful time of their lives, strains everything. The paranormal in this one was atmospheric, but a little harder to pin down. Maybe [...]

    4. Life and death, happening simultaneously. That’s how the world works sometimes. Gideon and Lee are experiencing that right now. Amidst it all they have another mystery on their hands, murder and all. The paranormal aspect makes itself known through both the lands of Cornwall and its inhabitants. I love that it’s not just spinning heads or evil spirits but something that feels much older, as ancient as the ground beneath everyone’s feet.Gideon Frayne and Lee Tyack are two of my favorite cha [...]

    5. All the stars - problem with five starring the series is being unable to rate this higher. Probably my favourite yet, though it does need the books that have come before to have full impact. To know the journey Gideon has taken from a solitary figure, distant to his family on the edge of the village; to being married, surrounded by family and the backbone of his village, impregnably woven in.A good blend of personal story, mystery and paranormal chills; told in a way that swirls them together ra [...]

    6. It has been ten days since I finished it -- so my review is going to be, well, sucky. The story continued from the previous book, with Gideon and Lee familiarizing themselves with being parents for their adorable baby girl (the baby actually is Lee's niece from his younger sister). But then something emotional happened, and I couldn't help myself for hating Lee's sister for it. It really was heartbreaking. In amidst to that, there was a mystery when a local farmer was horribly murdered. I could [...]

    7. Audiobook reviewI thought I knew what was coming, but I really didn't. I didn't expect that at all. This book will break your heart, so you might want to have a few tissues handy before starting it. While reading and listening to this series I've been thoroughly invested in every word of this story. I've loved, laughed, worried and been creeped out all along with our friends in Bodmin Moor. But I can't say the books have left me reeling, they have not been angsty or emotional on that rollercoast [...]

    8. In this fifth installment of the Tyack & Frayne series, Harper Fox took us back to the Bodmin Moor of the Dark village from the very first book where Sargeant Gideon Frayne and his husband Lee Tyack are now settling well and good after their wedding with their dog Isolde and their lovely baby girl Tamsyn. Their domestic bliss was halted when a shocking family event took place leaving our boys gasping for something to hold on into and if that’s not enough, the legend about the Bodmin beast [...]

    9. Seriously love this series. In fact MM series are what I'm really enjoying at the moment, especially ones with a mystery/crime going on as well. The best thing about this book is the ongoing relationship development between Lee and Gideon. Just because they are together and in love doesn't mean everything runs smoothly, that life is full of roses. And yay for that - because life doesn't always run to plan. In fact it most often chooses not to and sometimes what makes or breaks a situation is the [...]

    10. A great lot is packed into this little short. A great big breath required before you start and hope it lasts till you reach the end.A niggle kept me from enjoying this mystery/romance. (view spoiler)[Ms Fox takes on a big thing - an adoption of a baby from a family member to a family member and this is too short considering the few pages and the mystery which has to be given it's space for the adoption and it's drama to be fairly portrayed. So Elowen ended up being just a cutout baddie. Adoption [...]

    11. *4.5 stars* Oh, what lovely imagery here.I feel like the Cornish moorland setting and its history, tradition and people are as much a main character in this series as are Gideon and Lee. Book #5 is another wonderful addition to this series. We see the continuation of Lee and Gideon's love story, which has always had such a real, pure and honest feel to me. All the key secondary characters (like Zeke and Ma Frayne) are back and continuing to grow and evolve with onevery special new addition. This [...]

    12. 4.5 - this was great !! How Harper Fox can come up with these twists are amazing. The use of old language, mysteries of the moor and paranormal superstition that are really plausible, even to the non believer. This was one of my favorite episodes- with the inclusion of baby Tamsyn, the growing bond between Lee & Gideon, the development of secondary characters- especially Zeke, and the whole mystery of the Beast. This book series would make an awesome Netflix series!!

    13. 5 not entirely unbiased stars4.5 stars for the book, plus .5 for capping off one of my favourite series.OK, the book is short, I don't feel like I need to go into huge amounts of detail here, but basically it is amazing. This is set about a year after the end of the previous book, Kitto, and Lee and Gid are settling happily into their lives as husbands. The domesticity and support that the two show for each other is amazing - most m/m seems bored by the idea of two men building a life together a [...]

    14. Probably the best series I have read, every time I thought that this was going to slide into schmaltz or irritate, HF bought it right back.Ended in a good place, but surely there has to be more ?Full review on blog

    15. And I remember again why I didn't dig this series so much12:58 pm 26 September 2015Guardians Of The Haunted Moor: (A Tyack & Frayne Mystery) (The Tyack & Frayne Mysteries Book 5) - Harper FoxThe relationship between the two MCs is established, their great true love stronger than anything and so on.So the drama centers on their ready-made family. The last installment ended with Lee's conveniently pregnant sister at their wedding.I don't want to spoil it for other readers, so no details. J [...]

    16. This book hit me right in the feels.Which I wasn't expecting, because the preceding books haven't been particularly angsty. I spent most of the book hurting for Gideon and Lee. Their pain was just so palpable. But I didn't need to worry. Gideon and Lee hold each other up and work through it. And despite the angst, the relationship is still the mix of sweet and sexy that makes this series so easy to enjoy. The mystery was very entertaining. Genuinely creepy at times. Bodmin Moor is still a complete [...]

    17. I teared up several times during the reading of this novel, not because it was overly sad, not because it was overly happy, purely on the strength of the beautiful writing. Usually I am not a fan of similes, but wow, I found myself wondering how Ms Fox can come up with such wonderfully expressive and poetic writing without it seeming trite or overly flowery. Beautiful, a real pleasure to read.Great plot, great characters, Gideon and Lee rate among my top five couples in M/M literature and what a [...]

    18. Harper Fox manages to do something with her writing that not a lot of the authors I read do. In the genre of M/M romance, there's a lot of love. And a lot of talking about love. And a lot of expressing that love in hot and heavy ways. In this book, with this couple? There's so much love it makes my heart ache, but it's got a subtlety to it that I just adore. Yeah, it's book 5, gosh, isn't it time to spice things up for this couple? And the author does it with the settling in of their marriage, t [...]

    19. 3.5 starsJust to be clear- I love Gid and Lee, one of my favorite couples in genre.I couldn't really put my finger on what irked me about this installment, until I went through my thoughts on previous books of T&F series.Ok, it's like this: Harper Fox and especially this series became my go-to rec when someone asks me what is good to read in genre: it's quality and it's (unfortunately) still obscure enough to be overlooked. But the main reason is, that there are pretty big chances it would a [...]

    20. Another great Gideon and Lee mystery. It balances the personal and emotion grief of the pair, with the obligations of trying to sort out a murder and a village dealing with a lurking, sinister beast. Or is there one?The addition of Sergeant Weird-shit provides some humour, but mostly, the tone stays in the dark and suspenseful arena, forcing Gideon to call on all his powers of patience, force of will, and his goodness.I also loved that the solution to the mystery involved a very real, contempora [...]

    21. The love and attraction between these guys shines right off the page. All the small moments of affection between them reveal the quiet appeal of domestic life with a well-suited partner. They don't take each other for granted. The palpable joy and gratitude they feel at having found each other is why I love this series so much.

    22. 4.5 stars. An excellent novella, made me cry. I enjoy the interactions between Gideon, Lee and family but the actual murder mystery usually leaves me puzzled

    23. getting better and better. Also only one very short book left in the series. What will ever cure this book hungover? i

    24. This is the fifth, and sadly, the last in the Tyack and Frayne Mysteries. As always Ms Fox has given us a beautifully atmospheric work, with elements that took my breath away. In the prologue, Gideon Frayne describes his husband, Lee Tyack,His beautiful west-coast lad was all the silver part of his spectrum today, a winter-beach pallor under his skin, his eyes full of strange lights. In this, we have the strength of these tales and Ms Fox’s work – she tells wonderful stories with writing that [...]

    25. I have mixed reviews about this series - and I have to admit it was a chore reading the new addition to the series.I just felt bored and everything was so polite yet melodramatic. There is a lovely tone about the author's writing, yet this book just made me irritated and seemed a bit pompous. The story in itself was overreaching and I felt that whilst two stories were going on, neither one of them had any impact. Disappointed.

    26. Oh nooooo!!! Is this the last book for Tyack and Frayne? I certainly get that feeling but as we say in German “die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt” (hope is the last thing to die), so I'll still be keeping my fingers crossed that maybe, just maybe we might have another adventure. However, if this should be the case then it is a well rounded and fitting end to the saga which is Tyack and Frayne.Right from the very beginning of this book we are thrown into the tumultuous lives of Lee and Gideon. Throw [...]

    27. 4.5 Heart Review by VickiGideon and Lee…. How I love these two! This is a great addition to the series that started with Once Upon A Haunted Moor, and stars Gideon Frayne and Lee Tyack. Gideon is a policeman in a little town in Cornwall called Dark. Gideon is looking for a missing child when Lee is called in to help find her, using his psychic powers. Gideon is pretty skeptical, until he sees first hand how amazing Lee is. This brings the two together, gets Gideon out of the closet, freaks out [...]

    28. 3.5 starsJust to be clear- I love Gid and Lee, one of my favorite couples in genre.I couldn't really put my finger on what irked me about this installment, until I went through my thoughts on previous books of T&F series.Ok, it's like this: Harper Fox and especially this series became my go-to rec when someone asks me what is good to read in genre: it's quality and it's (unfortunately) still obscure enough to be overlooked.
