    1. The only text book I'll put on here. This book does an awesome job of explaining every thing you'd want to know about how our ethnicity affects everything from family interactions, heirarchies, rules and mores, as well as immigration patterns for each ethnicity. Really detailed and has been right on the money when I've referenced it and then checked in with clients who are dealing with issues partly related to ethnicity.

    2. I want to come back and read this more thoroughly because it was very insightful. Unfortunately I only loaned it so I didn't get a chance to solidly read it and take notes like I normally would in my own book! It offers great insight on just about every ethnicity. It was really interesting to read and I wish that there had been more information on the ethnicity, but I know the point of the book was to offer family therapy tips for working with different cultures. I would definitely recommend thi [...]

    3. This was a very informative and educational textbook that covered the various cultures and ethnicities of the world. As an adopted child that knows my biological heritage in part, it was interesting to read about them as well as learn about my adoptive heritage. I expect this book to be an informative asset in my counseling career.

    4. A fascinating exploration of ethnic differences in families. Whether the differences are of European, Asian, Middle Eastern, Hispanic, Jewish, African American and other family cultures, the book provides great insight into the diversity in family systems in the United States. Not only descriptive, the sections provide a helpful guide for intervention.

    5. A wonderful reference book to have on one's shelves. Many insights into the differences in (family) dynamics that may be due to ethnicity and culture. Has helped with understanding self, family, the world around me, and literature.

    6. Coming from a Family Systems point of view, this makes sense. I think the most important thing to keep in mind is when using this practically, you MUST ALWAYS check with your clients to see how this information applies or doesn't apply to them.

    7. This is book is astounding. Nothing to read cover to cover. Each chapter breaks down the family dynamics and structure of a particular ethnicity as it is a science. Reading your won provides insight into your own condition as well as the ability to much better understand others. Phenomenal.

    8. Handy guidebook on generalities for each person of different cultures a therapist might encounter. The overarching ideas are mostly spot-on, but it doesn't take into consideration the amount of diversity there is within communities of color.

    9. Discusses cultural traits to the third- and fourth-generation that people bring with them into marriages. How culture traits and values affect how we interact intimately. Probably the best explanation I've received on why so many AMerican marriages have problems.

    10. I know this book appears to be a text book, and it may be for other schools, but I picked it up out of curiosity and found it a good resource for information on the cultural indications of family therapy.

    11. This book will continue to sit on my shelf when I'm in practice. This book answers so many questions about cultures and ethnicity that we may never have the pleasure of experiencing first hand.

    12. Provides fascinating insights into the role our culture of origin plays in our behavior pattern. Amidst read for any multicultural studies.

    13. Hey - want to buys this book for me for xmas? ;) It's one of those good-but-expensive books that I can't afford at the moment.

    14. Fantastic book for new counselors learning the multicultural theory. Really good insights about many minority groups that new counselors need to know before going out in the field.
